#Top100 for Las Vegas opens tomorrow

Since its new year and life seems to change from year to year I thought I would drop a note here to talk about registration and changes we’re doing and why. First is timing . Last year we did some dumb stuff with timing and it hurt us more than helped. We’ll be opening sooner and longer but closing 3 weeks prior to the event. Then we’ll open the VIP and Display Spots. Our data backend was upgraded allowing us to move faster for accepting cars, this will give owners more time for arrangements.

New for #Twenty18 is movement I hope will sweep across our industry, but thats asking alot of other events that thrive on as many as we can get.  Elvis Skender posted in the off season about replica parts and kits. That post started something with a “few” of us. As part of an effort we’ll be doing our best to avoid entries with replica products. Or selling of such parts or brands at our events. We’re not perfect either and we’ve been down that road but everyone deserves a second chance. We purposely added this line to our ticketing system.  We understand the appeal of replica, but for 2018 we’ll be accepting only quality in the #Top100. Save a little more and be proud. Rebuilds are cheaper than learning a lesson physically or socially. We choose quality over quantity of cars in our shows. Now we wait to see if everyone else jumps on board or condemns us for taking a stance.

Below you’ll find out more details to help you register and stand out against hundreds of others that have just as much chance as you do

How to Register well

I thought since we are ready for #twenty18 events I should write  note or short story about the process , the changes and expectations. If you’re not new to this process there are a few new changes this year to help our sponsors and us do this job a little better. If you completely new to applying for #Top100 hold onto your socks because this isn’t like what you are used too.

We’re asking more questions this year to focus better on classes, social media for you and placing you to be seen by  sponsors.  You’ll be asked to if you are bagged or static to help guide the judges because it not so simple anymore. While in Houston this year we had a hell of time figuring out who won best static. Next we asked what class you think you should fit in. This is one the hardest parts of the organization, decide who should be in what and who goes against who. I personally class each car for each show. We’re created a few rules to insure all the classes get filled and we don’t end up with 100 cars in one class. If it’s got a huge wang its in function. If its cambered hard it’s in best stance. If its a classic its in the classic class and the rest are pretty obvious. But now you can show me what you think, thats the important part. For the last change its a smart question. Can we post your submitted photo ? Last year I was so blown away by a car I posted the photo immediately. I blew someone’s reveal at the show they worked so hard for. so now we’ll ask to insure I won’t mess that up.

What do I expect for registering – You’ll need to have access to a few things. We’ll need your make and model with a shirt size to take care of you. We’ll need your instagram or team name so we don’t have to ask on Instagram later. We’ll want to know what wheels , offsets and tires your running so we can get you in booth or near a booth at setup. You’ll need four great photos. I highly suggest 4 way photos , so more like 16 photos (see the example below). These don’t need to be pro shots but cell phone shots wouldn’t be the best to represent your vehicle.  You have the choice of adding a video as well. It doesn’t need to be a huge production but we do love those as well. See the examples below. then it’s a giant waiting game. About 3 weeks before the event we’ll know who’s going to be where and where you’ll be.

How StanceWars Selections Work

All Vehicles entered are subject to review by Mike and then the judges. Vehicles are reviewed upon entry to insure the quality of the event. Some cars are rejected before judging. Once cars are in our system they are put into classes. Each class is allowed a certain number of vehicles in the event. Most classes are FIVE vehicles. After each vehicle is classed our judge’s blind rank the entries to determine the vehicles for the #Top100 by each class.

Example – You have a Rocket bunny FRS on three piece wheels and air-ride. Likely you would be put in Best Stance or Best Function. Best function has 15 openings in the event and Best Stance has 50 openings. Judges for “Best Stance” look at all 50 cars together and rank them 1-50, cars over 50 in this example are moved to VIP and given the same rights and goodies as the #Top100. They just don’t get the “approved” sticker in their gift packs. In Seattle they are one floor below the show, in Vegas they are on the other side of the vendors.  New Jersey is the very front of the venue. Houston is dead center of the event .

The cars not selected are moved to #Select100 and given the same rights and goodies as the #Top100.
