Hi guys, Curly here

As with everything to do with cars, the scene is always split into different schools of thought, camps, “squads” or cliques. Some people swear by VAG motors, others drive Jap till they die, others can’t fathom driving anything not American and big-block…

Throughout all the choices to make when building a car, there are always options which will decide to a large extent in what direction the build is going to progress. A colour, wheel choice, or bodykit can completely radicalize the look of an otherwise relatively plain car.

Working through all of these choices, one begins to build up an image of the final product, but as a completed project rather than the mere sum of all the parts…

A subtle yet overlooked detail when it comes to cosmetic and performance issues is tyres. The tyres some people use for drags or racing are actually holding them back from their full potential…

There are those who swear by functionality and grip and are therefore all about high aspect ratio tyres with no stretch whatsoever, sometimes even semi-slick. On the extreme opposite side of the seesaw are the stance cats, who like nothing more than a thin black rubber band around the wheels, stretched to its absolute maximum.

As usual the saying goes, “To each, his own.” This is ideal for describing the massive variety in rubber that guys choose, because undoubtedly they wouldn’t be caught dead with tyres from the “opposite side”.
