Lamborghini Reveals Lambo V12 Vision GT, Coming to GT Sport in Spring 2020
Italian brand Lamborghini has revealed a full-sized model of its new ‘Lambo V12 Vision GT’, live at the FIA-Certified GT Sport Online Championship World Final in Monaco.
Lamborghini is the latest carmaker to join the Vision GT program, and the second in two months following Jaguar’s own concept car presented in Tokyo.
The car is a futuristic design in part inspired by the Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 production concept that Lamborghini presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this year. Along with the ‘electric gold’ paint work, the Lambo V12 shares its powertrain with the Sian.
Power, as the name suggests, comes from a Lamborghini V12, closely related to the one you’ll find in the Aventador SVJ. There’s an additional 34hp from a supercapacitor, resuling in 807hp.
The styling comes from Lamborghini’s in-house Centro Stile design studio, and its German head of design Mitja Borkert. Despite the rather extreme looks, Borkert’s design incorporates a number of nods to other Lamborghini designs. That includes a ‘periscopio’ transparent roof panel, Y-shaped lighting features, and hexagonal side windows as with the Marzal concept in the 1960s.
Just as extreme as the outside is the inside. It’s a ‘monoposto’ design — with just one seat — more akin to a fighter jet than a car. The closed cockpit features cutting edge instrumentation, including a head-up display of all vital vehicle information. A voice assistant means there’s no need for the driver to take their hands from the steering wheel.
The car will arrive in Gran Turismo Sport some time in the spring of 2020. That confirms yet more content for next year, along with further Porsche models and the Mazda RX-Vision GT3 revealed yesterday.
